ONITSHA \u2013 The Federal High Court in Awka, Anambra State, has fixed March 3 for hearing on a contempt proceedings brought against Access Bank Plc Managing Director, Mr Aigboje Imoukhuede, and his deputy, Mr Herbert Wigwe, by an Onitsha-based industrialist and transporter, Chief Sebastine Udemba.<\/p>\n

Udemba, as second plaintiff, had filed an application for committal proceedings against the bank, Imoukhuede, Wigwe and three others for their inability to release the title deeds of one of the plaintiffs\u2019 landed property since 2007 when the plaintiffs liquidated the credit facility granted him(Udemba) and his company, Chiemezie Motors limited as ordered by the court.<\/p>\n

In the consolidated suits Nos. FHC\/EN\/CS\/160\/99 and FHC\/ EN \/CS \/ 74 \/2000, Chiemezie Motors Limited andchief S. C. Udemba had through their lawyer, Mr Ifeanyi Okumah filed the committal proceedings against Credit Lyonnais Nigeria limited now known as\u00a0 Access bank Plc praying the court to issue a bench warrant against the top bank officials for failing to appear before the court to show why they had refused to release the title deeds as ordered by the court.<\/p>\n

On July 7, 2010, the bank in a letter endorsed by its corporate counsel, Mr Festus Madu, and legal adviser, Mr Fatai Oladipo, to its lawyer, J.O Ibik, SAN, sought settlement out of court with the Plaintiff, but added that since then, there had been no response from the bank.<\/p>\n
