THE Federal Government, yesterday, flagged off the N30billion Benin-Abraka Expressway and assured that the road, which will be dualized will be completed within three years.<\/p>\n

The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Elder Godsday Orubebe, who was supported by the Minister of State for Works, Dr Chris Ogienwonyi, during the flag-off ceremony, said the President Goodluck Jonathan led administration was poised to ensure that Nigerians are provided with the basic needs of life, adding that apart from the road which will be dualized, there are\u00a0 several on-going electrification projects along the road which are aimed at bringing development to the area.<\/p>\n

Orubebe who urged the people of the South South to vote en-bloc for President Jonathan irrespective of their political affiliation, pointed out that the people of the region were better positioned to benefit from the Presidency of Jonathan, whom according to him, \u201c was born and bred in the creeks and\u00a0 knows our problems better than any other person.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cPresident Jonathan represents unity and he believes that there should be nothing like North and South. There will be nothing like Christian or Muslim, God has a reason for bringing us together. We must be united as one. The days are gone when people will use religion and ethnicity to divide Nigeria. We are all one, all what we need is somebody that will carry Nigeria to the next level and that is what Goodluck Jonathan represents,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe contractor of this road RCC has been mobilized and I can tell you that the remaining sections, all of them will be awarded and completed within the three years. Goodluck Jonathan\u2019s government is a government that when we say things we do it. That is the new Nigeria we are building and we have started building it\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

On his part, Dr Ogienwonyi urged the people of the area, to give all the required support to the contractor handling the project so that they will be able to complete the job as scheduled, adding that \u201c I will be disappointed as a son of the soil if you start making unnecessary demands which will slow the job. President Jonathan means well for Nigerians and we must all encourage and support him\u201d.<\/p>\n
