She recently admitted that she had suffered a breakdown that had kept her out of the music scene for most of last year.<\/p>\n

But fighting fit once more, Katie Melua was back to doing what she does best last night as she performed at the City Rocks concert last night.<\/p>\n

The 26-year-old singer dazzled the crowd at London’s Guildhall for the fund-raising event.<\/p>\n

Katie was on the line-up at the concert which raised money for the Lord Mayor of the City of London’s Charity Appeal.<\/p>\n

It was the first major rock concert to be held at the iconic Guildhall – which normally hosts traditional events such as the Lord Mayor\u2019s Banquet\u00a0 – in its 600-year history.<\/p>\n

The concert, which was produced by concert mogul Harvey Goldsmith, also saw performances from rocker-turned-photographer Bryan Adams, all-female rock quartet Bond and Squeeze’s Chris Difford.<\/p>\n

It was Katie’s first live performance since she admitted this week that
\nher overnight rise to fame and non-stop work for the past seven years
\nago had brought on a breakdown.<\/p>\n

Katie, who shot to stardom in 2003 aged 19 with her debut single The
\nClosest Thing To Crazy, told the Daily Mail that she had a brief stay in
\nhospital last year, brought on by her heavy workload.<\/p>\n

She said: ‘I’ve had a bit of a breakdown and been very unwell.<\/p>\n

\u2018It\u2019s a very sensitive \u00adsubject. I don\u2019t want to go into a lot of detail, but I had to drop out for a bit.<\/p>\n

‘The
\nfact is, I just couldn’t go on any longer. I knew there was something
\nseriously wrong because I was just sitting in a chair staring into
\nspace.’<\/p>\n

‘I was working myself into the ground.’<\/p>\n

Georgian-born Katie, whose breakdown led to her being briefly hospitalised, added: \u2018I had to drop out, go on \u00adholiday and have a rest. The problem is that I
\nlove what I\u2019m doing and I can\u2019t stop doing it. But I was working myself
\ninto the ground.\u2019<\/p>\n

Katie’s spokeswoman confirmed she had suffered a breakdown but said
\nshe has since recovered and was looking forward to going back on tour,
\nwhich was meant to take place last year but was postponed.<\/p>\n

She added: ‘She was working non-stop for about seven years and her body just said “enough is enough”.’<\/p>\n
