Mr. Caesar Kale, Deputy Upper West Regional Minister, has expressed concern about the trend of partisan politics that was creeping into churches lately.<\/p>\n
He said the church is one of the vehicles that should be<\/p>\n
used for re-engineering and re-emphasising societal values<\/p>\n
such as the patriotism and not perpetuating the current spate<\/p>\n
of devastating polarization of almost everything in the<\/p>\n
country.<\/p>\n
Mr. Kale raised the concern at the Golden Jubilee<\/p>\n
Celebration of the Tumu Catholic Parish on Friday, which<\/p>\n
was on the theme: \u201c50 years of evangelism in the Sissala land;<\/p>\n
achievements, challenges and the way forward\u201d.<\/p>\n
He said: \u201cIf the society including the church says hard<\/p>\n
work, respect and discipline are worthy virtues and requires<\/p>\n
emulation, then we should acknowledge and reward the<\/p>\n
pursuit of those virtues and deeds and not consider worldly<\/p>\n
possessions above them\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe youth are smart, they observe and if society<\/p>\n
recognises the wealthy, why should they not do anything and<\/p>\n
everything to be recognised, and who will suffer the<\/p>\n
consequences \u2013 ourselves, our children and generations<\/p>\n
unborn\u201d, Mr. Kale pointed out.<\/p>\n
Mr. Kale pleaded with the Catholic Church to continue to<\/p>\n
be amendable of the use of traditional dances and instruments<\/p>\n
during worship as it was one of the surest ways of<\/p>\n
perpetuating Ghana\u2019s culture, considering the rate at which<\/p>\n
some cultural practices were fast being corrupted and<\/p>\n
deserting the people.<\/p>\n
He commended the Catholic Church for providing<\/p>\n
potable water, basic schools and training institutions as well<\/p>\n
as introducing animal traction to the Sissala people.<\/p>\n
The government recognised the role Churches play in the<\/p>\n
transformation of the people hence the institutionalization of<\/p>\n
an \u201cAnnual Prayer and Thanksgiving Day\u201d in the country.<\/p>\n
Mr. Kale gave the assurance that government would<\/p>\n
continue to provide and partner the church to improve the<\/p>\n
available infrastructure to open up doors for more evangelism<\/p>\n
and for other socio-economic activities in the Sissala area.<\/p>\n
Catholics from other regions and neighbouring Burkina<\/p>\n
Faso attended the forum.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
