The Member of Parliament for Assin North, Kennedy Agyapong is mauling over what he says are incessant, unprovoked and unsubstantiated allegations made against his person and family by the Editor of the Bilingual Free Press, Alhaji Iddrisu Bature.<\/p>\n

He said he would rather use the same media Alhaji Bature used in tarnishing his reputation in returning his salvos than go to court to seek redress.<\/p>\n

Kennedy said while he does not trust the court system, no amount of money will be compensation enough for the damage Alhaji Bature has done to him, he told Joy News.<\/p>\n

The two faced-off in a fierce battle of mudslinging on Friday with Kennedy Agyapong threatening to kill Alhaji Bature if he should meet him.<\/p>\n

The managing editor of the Bilingual Free Press newspaper has reported the threat to the Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID), which has begun investigations into the matter.<\/p>\n

Alhaji Bature on his part told Joy News he was taking the death threat seriously, not because he was afraid of death but knowing too well what could happen.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am not afraid to die but I am afraid that somebody could hire assassins to kill me. If God kills me today I will go but the fact that somebody will cut my life short, that is what I am afraid of. And you know people with drug money what they can do; people who are in drugs we all know what is happening in the Mexicos and so on; we know what they can do; what they are capable of doing. So I need to take it seriously; I am not taking it lying low at all,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

According to him, he only responded to verbal insults by Kennedy Agyapong and warned him to desist from further insults, adding \u201cif he thinks that because he has money he can throw his weight around and insult everybody he cannot do that to me because I am not a cocaine dealer.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a reaction on Joy News the MP for Assin North noted he had been a victim to daily insults and allegations from Alhaji Bature who insists on calling him a drug dealer without providing a shred of evidence.<\/p>\n

He claimed he only had to respond when Bature made uncharitable comments about his mother.<\/p>\n

It is not too clear which of the two men started what they both agree are insults and unsubstantiated allegations.<\/p>\n

Asked why he would not take legal action against Alhaji Bature for calling him a drug dealer, the MP said: \u201cWhat action; the action is what I took. I have to respond accordingly because the system is not being fair to anybody. And nobody has come to my defence anytime he comes out with that stupidity.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2026 the damage this guy has done to me there is no amount of money that will compensate for that.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said if the threat of death is a crime, unsubstantiated allegations that he is a drug dealer is also a crime and the police has to take action against Bature before proceeding to look into his death threats.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
