The Chelsea star has not played for his country since suffering two serious injuries while playing for the Black Stars.<\/p>\n
He suffered the first injury while playing against Libya in 2010 World Cup qualifier in September 2009.<\/p>\n
Essien hastened his return for his country at the Africa Cup of last year but suffered another setback in his first game at the tournament in Angola.<\/p>\n
In his absence players like Anthony Annan, Kevin Prince Boateng and Agyemang Badu have excelled.<\/p>\n
With the Chelsea star confirming his imminent return to the team, some have fans said he should not expect automatic starting place.<\/p>\n
Essien says he will fight for a position like all other players in the squad.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think they are all fair comments and I have no issues with that at all,\u201d Michael Essien said on his official website.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s Ghana\u2019s team and I am no different from any other player when it comes to selection.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe coach decides who should play from the team available to him and I respect all the comments passed about selection and availability.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll I can say to Ghanaians is that I had two bad injuries and they were part of the reason for taking a mini break.<\/p>\n
