The Minority Leader in Parliament, Hon Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu has described President Mills\u2019 State of the Nation Address as the most divisive and partisan national address ever.<\/p>\n
President Mills on Thursday February 17, addressed the Nation\u2019s Parliament as required by the 1992 constitution. As part of his address President Mills said he has ordered that investigations be reopened into the mysterious serial killing of women that rocked the country in the late 1990\u2019s.<\/p>\n
He also revealed that investigations would soon be opened into The MV Benjamin cocaine saga in which over 70 parcels of cocaine disappeared without trace.<\/p>\n
In a wide-ranging address which touched on what the President said was his government’s achievements – but which the Minority describe as a rehashing of his previous addresses- President Mills issued what appears to be a direct response to Nana Akufo-Addo\u2019s \u201call die be die” comment, warning any group of persons or individuals, who might want to cause panic or chaos for their personal ambitions, telling the nation that he had ordered the country\u2019s security agencies to deal decisively with anybody who might want to disturb the tranquility Ghanaians are enjoying.<\/p>\n
However, speaking to Citi News the Suame MP minced no words, in his classification of President Mills\u2019 address as the most partisan in the nation\u2019s history. \u201cThe President chose by and large not to conform by the rules and regulations of the Constitution and went his own way. For the second consecutive time that he has come to Parliament he has sought to create the impression that the economy was in a bad shape because according to him we had saddled the economy with huge debts\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cIs the President saying that because people have not been caught we have to re-investigate them? The serial killing of women that happened some time ago, (it is)good if we have to go into them again because maybe until now the people who did it have not been caught but if we are talking about high profile crime, at Agbobloshie an NDC activist went to butcher an NPP activist\u2026what is the President doing about that, he should give us a break\u201d.<\/p>\n
