The Ghana Football Association has finalized a US$ 403,000 contract with Fifa to construct a football academy in the West African country.<\/p>\n
The contract, which is the Fifa Goal IV Project, will be sited at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.<\/p>\n
Of the amount, US$ 380,000 will be paid to the contractor and US$ 22,00 to the be consultant and the Ghana federation will bear the remainder.<\/p>\n
The project will be completed in eight months.<\/p>\n
Ghana FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi siad: \u201cWe want to give practical mean to football and education. Already, we have started that with women\u2019s and that is why the Under-17s and Under-20s are made of girls who are in schools or have been to school.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will select the best Under-12 and Under-15 children for the academy and education them. For those in management, you know that it\u2019s easy to manage a player who is educated.\u201d<\/p>\n
Last month the Ghana Football Association commissioned the Goal III Project, which is a newly built multi-purpose dining and conference facility plus kitchen at Prampram.<\/p>\n
The technical centre at Prampram was built with funding from the Goal I Project which was a grant of $400,000 whiles the funds for Goal II Project was invested in the House of Football \u2013 the headquarters of the Ghana Football Association in Accra.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
