Ghana midfielder Sulley Muntari says his close friend Michael Essien will return to the national team, the Sunderland ace has told Ghanasoccernet.com exclusively.<\/p>\n
Essien, who plays for English giants Chelsea, has not played for his country since he suffered an injury at the Africa Cup of Nations in Angola last year.<\/p>\n
He missed the World Cup in South Africa in June and promsied to return to early this year after seeking a leave of absence. Since then Essien has been evasive about his return to the Black Stars, sparking fears of his reluctance to play for the country.<\/p>\n
But, Muntari who is in daily contact with the Chelsea star, insists Essien will return to the national even though he is uncertain of a date. \u201cMichael will return to play for the national team,\u201d Sunderland star Muntari told Ghanasoccernet.com. \u201cHe has been away for a while now but I can guarantee that he has not neglected his country. Michael is a patriot and he will return to play for the people of Ghana.\u201d<\/p>\n
