{"id":275811,"date":"2011-02-10T06:18:14","date_gmt":"2011-02-10T06:18:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/?p=51715"},"modified":"2011-02-10T06:18:14","modified_gmt":"2011-02-10T06:18:14","slug":"informer-liedi-never-said-ba-volta-deserves-not-a-university-ambrose-dery","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/02\/10\/informer-liedi-never-said-ba-volta-deserves-not-a-university-ambrose-dery\/","title":{"rendered":"Informer Lied\u2026I Never Said B\/A &amp; Volta Deserves Not A University &#8211; Ambrose Dery"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MP for Lawra\/ Nandom and Deputy  Minority Leader, Ambrose Dery, has dismissed as factually incorrect  media reports that sought to suggest that he described the sod-cutting  for the construction of two Universities in the Brong Ahafo and Volta  Regions as unnecessary and unwise.<br \/>\nThe \u2018<strong>Informer<\/strong>\u2019 newspaper, in a publication on Wednesday, February 9th, headlined; \u201c<strong>B\/A, Volta Don\u2019t Deserve Universities \u2013 Ambrose Dery, NPP MP &amp; Minority Leader Declares<\/strong>\u201d,  the pro-government tabloid claimed the NPP MP reportedly said \u201cit is a  grievous mistake for President Mills to have selected the two regions as  beneficiaries of the university projects adding that the two regions  cannot be said to be worthy of such investment.\u201d<br \/>\nBut speaking in an interview with Kwami Sefa-Kayi on Wednesday\u2019s edition of <strong>Kokrokoo<\/strong> on <strong>PeaceFM<\/strong>, the Lawra\/Nandom MP strenuously denied making the statement attributed to him.<br \/>\n\u201cI  never made such a statement that I was against the construction of the  two universities in Volta and Brong Ahafo Region. The \u201c<strong>Informer<\/strong>\u201d publication has no basis. I have not made that statement at all,\u201d he said.<br \/>\nAccording  to him, he only stated that merely cutting a sod for the commencement  of a project does not necessarily mean fulfilling a campaign promise,  and added that President Mills should go beyond that by successfully  completing the project.<br \/>\n\u201cAgain I repeat, I did not say those regions should not have or do not deserve universities,\u201d Mr. Dery stressed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MP for Lawra\/ Nandom and Deputy Minority Leader, Ambrose Dery, has dismissed as factually incorrect media reports that sought to suggest that he described the sod-cutting for the construction of two Universities in the Brong Ahafo and Volta Regions as unnecessary and unwise.
