The Brong Ahafo Regional Executives
\nof the People\u2019s National Convention(PNC) and Convention
\nPeople\u2019s Party(CPP), have endorsed the position of the National
\nExecutive Committee of the CPP to unite the two parties and hold a
\njoint congress.
\nThe executives described the move as the \u201conly way Nkrumaists
\ncan be become a formidable force to capture political power\u201d.
\nA statement jointly signed by Mr Kwame Ameyaw, Regional
\nChairman of the CPP and Nana Kwasi Kyeremeh, Regional
\nChairman of the PNC in Sunyani said the merger must start at the
\npolling station to the regional level to ensure the success of a joint
\nnational congress.
\nIt said: \u201cMerging at the grassroots level was a prudent economic
\ndecision.
\n\u201cWe (CPP\/PNC) believe it is economically unwise for the two
\nparties to use resources to organise and hold separate congress after
\nwhich a joint congress would be held.
\n\u201cResources available to the two parties now\u2026 put together will
\nnot be sufficient to organise a strong party capable of unseating the
\nNDC (National Democratic Congress) and will require additional
\nresources,\u201d the statement said.
\nIt stressed the need for unity among the rank and file of the two
\nparties adding \u201cwithout unity it will be very difficult to mobilise
\nNkrumaists at the grassroots\u201d.
\n\u201cLet us therefore bury our differences and move to the polling
\nstation through the constituency to the regional and national levels.
\n\u201cWe would be glad if further attempts would be made to unite
\nwith other Nkrumaist groups in the country,\u201d says the statement.
\nThe regional executives underscored the need for consensus
\nbuilding and appealed to the leadership of the CPP to put on hold
\nthe decision of the party to hold constituency and regional
\nconferences until the path of unity was clearly defined by both
