A Magistrate Court at Duayaw-Nkwanta has again remanded into prison custody four persons accused of murdering one Kwasi Yeboah, a citizen of Yamfo in the Tano District of the Brong Ahafo Region.
\nThe court is waiting for the advice of the Attorney-General\u2019s (A-G) Department on the duplicate docket of the case.The court presided by Mr Divine Kwaku Ahiadu adjourned the case till Thursday, February 17.
\nThe four are Kofi Kadie, 22, a driver\u2019s mate, Kofi Emmininbrah, 32, tractor operator, Gyamfi Kyeremeh, 45, drinking\/chop-bar operator at Yamfo and Evans Peprah Tabiri, 58, businessman\/road contractor. Mr Eric Ansah Ankomah, Co-counsel for Tabiri in his submission expressed worry that on January 5, prosecution informed the court that the duplicate docket was ready to be sent to the A-G\u2019s Department.
\nHe said there was however an affidavit that indicated that the docket was forwarded to the A-G\u2019s office on January 31. Mr Ankomah said when the accused persons were arrested they all denied the offence and said they did not know each until they met for the first time when their charge sheet was substituted.
\nHe also told the court that his client was being tortured by the police to extract confession for the crime. The Prosecutor, Police Chief Inspector Souza Christian Kwasi Ahatsi objected to the allegations by the counsel.
\nHe explained that the delay in forwarding the docket to the A-G\u2019s office in Sunyani was because \u201cprosecution received the pathologist\u2019s report late\u201d, stressing that the document could not be sent to the law office without the report.
