{"id":275375,"date":"2011-02-03T09:21:56","date_gmt":"2011-02-03T09:21:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/?p=50675"},"modified":"2011-02-03T09:21:56","modified_gmt":"2011-02-03T09:21:56","slug":"fifa-okay-meteors-and-queens-for-olympic-games-qualifiers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/02\/03\/fifa-okay-meteors-and-queens-for-olympic-games-qualifiers\/","title":{"rendered":"FIFA Okay Meteors And Queens For Olympic Games Qualifiers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>World soccer governing body,  Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) has okayed  Ghana\u2019s participation in the qualifiers of the London 2012 Olympic  Games.<br \/>\nThe announcement is expected to clear the \u2018dark  clouds\u2019 surrounding the participation of the Black Meteors and the Black  Queens in the preliminary rounds of the quadrennial tournament  following the suspension of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) by the  International Olympic Committee (IOC).<br \/>\nIn a statement to the  GNA Sports, FIFA indicated that Ghana\u2019s participation at the  preliminary rounds is confirmed in line with Article \u201c5\u201d of the  regulations of the competition which states that Associations may  participate provided there is a National Olympic Committee in their  respective country.\u201cThere is no direct consequence for the preliminary  competition matches for the Olympic Football tournament London 2012.<br \/>\n\u201cThis competition is played under the auspices and administered by  FIFA and the FIFA Member Associations. At entering the competition, the  GFA was complying with provision 1 of Article 5, as there is a National  Olympic Committee (NOC) in Ghana. \u201cConsequently, Ghana is a confirmed  participant in the preliminary competition,\u201d FIFA Media Department said.<br \/>\nBy  this assurance, Ghana\u2019s participation in the main tournament can only  be determined by the Organising Committee of the tournament.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>World soccer governing body, Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) has okayed Ghana\u2019s participation in the qualifiers of the London 2012 Olympic Games.
