{"id":275131,"date":"2011-01-31T10:56:05","date_gmt":"2011-01-31T10:56:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/?p=50118"},"modified":"2011-01-31T10:56:05","modified_gmt":"2011-01-31T10:56:05","slug":"cpp-man-sacked-over-demonstration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/01\/31\/cpp-man-sacked-over-demonstration\/","title":{"rendered":"CPP Man Sacked Over Demonstration"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-28323\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/2010\/10\/30\/cpp-warns-ndc-stop-labeling-your-party-nkrumaist\/cpp_logo_standard\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-28323\" title=\"cpp_logo_standard\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/cpp_logo_standard1.jpg\" alt=\"cpp logo\" width=\"155\" height=\"205\" \/><\/a>The Ashanti regional branch of the Convention People\u2019s Party (CPP) has hinted that it would soon dismiss one of its members who openly supported the recently held \u2018hwehwe mu\u2019 demonstration organised by a pro-government pressure group, Movement for Better Ghana Agenda.<br \/>\nThe party\u2019s regional chairman, Samuel Kwabena Danso, in an exclusive interview with the Today newspaper disclaimed the membership of Frederick Antwi, who contested for MP at Suame on the ticket of the party in the 2008 general election.<br \/>\nMr. Antwi was reported to have mounted on the \u201chwehwe mu\u2019 demonstration platform in Kumasi describing himself as a former parliamentary candidate of the CPP and as a matter of fact, the party\u2019s representative for the demonstration.<br \/>\n\u201cThe Movement for Better Ghana Agenda and this \u2018hwehwe mu\u2019 demonstration is not only for the NDC but for all Ghanaians so we in the CPP are also supporting it. That\u2019s why I am here with you all today, Mr. Antwi reportedly told the jubilant NDC supporters in the Twi local dialect.<br \/>\nMr. Antwi\u2019s action surprised many journalists who had gone to cover the event since the CPP had earlier declared its stand that it was not in support of the demonstration. It is against this background that the regional Chairman expressed surprise that Mr. Antwi, whom he referred to as \u2018a nobody\u2019 in the party when he clearly knew it was a gathering of members of a political party. \u201cIn any case, ask him the last time he paid his party dues and what he has done for the party after the 2008 general election &#8211; he has even resigned from the CPP and I know he might have declared his support for the NDC demonstration because of his own selfish interest,\u201d Mr. Danso stated.<br \/>\nAccording to Mr. Danso, \u201cGhanaians must know that Frederick Antwi has not been with the CPP for the past two years and the party could not have asked him to represent us.\u201d<br \/>\nHe continued that the National Executive Council of the party never even declared its support for any of the two demonstrations and therefore could not have been possible that the Ashanti regional branch of the party would dare send someone who had \u2018left the party about two years ago\u2019 to represent it a course they do not believe in.<br \/>\nSource: Today<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Ashanti regional branch of the Convention People\u2019s Party (CPP) has hinted that it would soon dismiss one of its members who openly supported the recently held \u2018hwehwe mu\u2019 demonstration organised by a pro-government pressure group, Movement for Better Ghana Agenda.
