Dr Ekwow Spio Garbrah, a Vice Chairman of the NDC, has refuted claims that his latest article praising the position of President Mills on the political standoff in Cote d\u2019Ivoire, is to gain some favour with the President.
\nHe told Citi News he endorsed the president\u2019s position because he felt the president\u2019s stance was the right one and made a lot of sense.
\nDr Spio Garbrah introduced the Team A and B concept into Ghanaian politics when he commented about the president\u2019s appointees. He has in the past written articles criticizing the government on a number of policy moves and directives.
\nAccording to him, his latest article backing the president is a reflection of his objectivity, because he can and will criticize the NDC government when he has to and will give praise where necessary.
\n\u201cI have made it clear that in this case I am writing as an ordinary Ghanaian citizen and also because I have worked in La Cote d\u2019Ivoire so I know the country. If the matter was a problem in Gabon or a problem in Mauritania maybe I wouldn\u2019t have written about it.
\n“I also mention the fact (in the article) that I\u2019m also married to an Ivorian citizen and I have children that have Ivorian blood in them and also have friends and family in the country. And I know there are many Ghanaians living there who I don\u2019t want to put at risk.
\n\u201cIt is for all these reasons that I have chosen to write on this subject, but that does not in any way detract from anything I have written in the past. Maybe it is some individual Ghanaians who think that because if I write anything that sounds critical of the government then I am a critic; if I write something that seems to be supporting the government then\u2026I don\u2019t know what I am, I\u2019m just a supporter.
\n\u201cI think all that it means is that there are things the government does that I will agree with, and there are things the government does that I may not agree with.
