Sunderland are leading West Ham in the race to sign want-away Inter Milan star Sulley Muntari, the Ghanaian midfielder\u2019s agent has revealed.
\nThe Black Cats are looking to bolster their midfield and striking options, and have bids in for a number of players.
\nThey have made a loan bid for Muntari, who submitted a transfer request at Inter Milan earlier this month.
\nThe former Portsmouth man was quoted earlier this month suggesting he would prefer a move to London.
\nHowever, his agent Fabien Piveteau has told Sky Sports that Sunderland are very much in pole position to sign the Ghana international.
\nReports in Italy have claimed that Tottenham, Everton and Liverpool had all lodged offers for Muntari \u2013 but Piveteau says it is not true.
\n\u201cThere is just Sunderland and West Ham, nobody else is in for him,\u201d he said.
\nHe also rubbished claims that Muntari preferred a move to the capital, adding: \u201cThat is not true, indeed if everything is sorted out with Sunderland he will be going there.
\n\u201cWe hope to have everything sorted shortly, maybe by Tuesday.
\n\u201cHe knows Sunderland is a good club, possibly not the biggest but he wants to be playing football.
\n\u201cThe other Ghana players at Sunderland have told him about the club which has obviously played a part.\u201d
