Adomako Acheampong say they intend to appeal the verdict and sentence.
Nana Yirenkyi was on March 9, 2010 put before court on a charge of incest but the prosecution for the additional charge when it substituted the old charge sheet with a new one at the second hearing.
The accused was refused bail by the presiding judge on two occasions because she said the defence team could not provide any exceptional circumstance under which bail should be granted.
Under the country’s laws, defilement falls under the category of offences that bail should not be granted.
BACKGROUND
The prosecution’s case was that, the victim, born out of wedlock, lived with the complainant, Madam Asamaa until 2005 when she left to live with the accused at McCarthy Hills in Accra to attend school. It said between 2008 and 2009, accused started defiling the victim before he attended every church service.
In November 2009, the accused granted an opportunity to the victim’s mother to talk to her because she was putting up a bad behaviour. It was during the interaction that the victim revealed her ordeal to her mother.
The 10-year-old daughter (name withheld) purportedly admitted that she had been defiled by her father, a pastor, and her immature vagina shattered beyond repairs.
The victim was initially examined by a medical doctor and later transferred to the Police Hospital for further treatment.
It was gathered that Prophet Yirenkyi, after having sex with his daughter, releases his sperms into a white ‘miracle’ handkerchief and then uses the same handkerchief to clean the little girl’s vagina.
Family sources say the belief is that the handkerchief is the source of Prophet Yirenkyi’s miracle powers and that more people would flock to his church anytime he sleeps with the poor damsel.
Prophet Yirenkyi lived with his daughter at Weija in Accra while the girl’s mother stays at Mamfe Akuapem in the Eastern Region. The pastor and the woman are no longer married.

Peacefmonline can confirm that Prophet Nana Kofi Yirenkyi (a.k.a “Jesus Onetouch”), founder and general Overseer of Jesus Blood Prophetic Minister at Oblogo Manchester, near Accra, who was accused of allegedly defiling his 10-year-old daughter has been sentenced to 10 years in jail by the Accra Circuit Court on Thursday January 20.
