{"id":274465,"date":"2011-01-19T12:27:34","date_gmt":"2011-01-19T12:27:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/?p=48494"},"modified":"2011-01-19T12:27:34","modified_gmt":"2011-01-19T12:27:34","slug":"committee-on-payment-of-royalties-to-musicians-formed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/01\/19\/committee-on-payment-of-royalties-to-musicians-formed\/","title":{"rendered":"Committee On Payment of Royalties To Musicians Formed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><figure id=\"attachment_45842\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-45842\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-45842\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/2011\/01\/09\/music-producers-want-betty-mould-iddrisu-to-complete-work\/john_mensah_sarpong\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-45842\" title=\"john_mensah_sarpong\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/john_mensah_sarpong.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"280\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-45842\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">John Mensah Sarpong, President of NASGAMP<\/figcaption><\/figure><br \/>\nA nine-member committee under the Chairmanship= of Major Emmanuel Owusu-Adansi (Rtd) of the National Communications Authority (NCA) has been formed to work out the modalities for the payment of royalties to musicians.<br \/>\nMembers of the committee are four representatives each from the Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (GIBA) and the Interim Copyright Management Team (ICMT).<br \/>\nThe terms of reference for the work of the Committee shall be to revie= w the tariff regimes for GIBA members; to discuss the payment of outstanding arrears; to review terms of payment of COSGA bills; to discuss logging of works performed by users, and any other matters that would enhance the relationship between the two parties.<br \/>\nThe Committee has been given a minimum period of two weeks to present its report. This was contained in a communiqu=E9 issued at the end of a meeting between GIBA and ICMT held under the Chairmanship of Mr Haruna Iddrissu, Minister of Communications on Tuesday, January 18, 2011.<br \/>\nThe meeting was to resolve the problem of payment of royalties to musicians and they agreed to cooperate with each other to find an amicable solution to the raging problem.<br \/>\nTherefore, GIBA made a firm commitment to honour royalty payment to musicians through the ICMT; ICMT to restrain its members from embarking on unilateral actions and harassment of the radio stations as happened in Sunyani.
