{"id":274361,"date":"2011-01-17T23:08:01","date_gmt":"2011-01-17T23:08:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/?p=48260"},"modified":"2011-01-17T23:08:01","modified_gmt":"2011-01-17T23:08:01","slug":"well-do-everything-to-arrest-tamale-police-attackers-p-r-o","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/01\/17\/well-do-everything-to-arrest-tamale-police-attackers-p-r-o\/","title":{"rendered":"We\u2019ll Do Everything To Arrest Tamale Police Attackers \u2013 P.R.O"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-32434\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/2010\/11\/11\/victim-cries-out-police-shot-me-not-armed-robbers\/police_van-2\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-32434\" title=\"police_van\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/police_van1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"280\" height=\"217\" \/><\/a>The Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), Chief Inspector Ebenezer Tetteh has described as unfortunate the attack on police officers in the municipality, and vowed that the service will go to all lengths in arresting the culprits.<br \/>\nHe said it is appalling and inconceivable that people will try to fight against an operation meant purposely for their own safety.<br \/>\nSome residents in the Tamale Metropolis believed to be NDC foot soldiers in the early hours of last Saturday allegedly pounced on personnel of the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) of the Ghana Police Service and subjected them to series of brutalities.<br \/>\nSergeant Tinkorang and Lance Corporal Blay, who were among the officials on duty at the time of the incident, sustained various degrees of injury resulting from the scuffle with the youth.<br \/>\nThe police was on national assignment to step up efforts in clamping down on road traffic offences throughout the country as part of measures to reduce carnage on the roads. The exercise started in other parts of the country without any incidents, with sections of the public complying with the regulations of the road traffic act, but this could not be said of Tamale.<br \/>\nThe exercise was resisted by some suspected NDC foot soldiers whose violent reaction led to the severe beating of two policemen, one of whom is still on admission at the Tamale Teaching Hospital. Four suspects were later arrested, but were released when a mob attempted to attack the Tamale police charge office.<br \/>\nChief Inspector Tetteh confirmed the incident in an interview on Peace FM\u2019s Kokrokoo Morning show.<br \/>\n\u201cJust last week, there was a serious accident which claimed the lives of six persons and there have been several other accidents in other parts of the country. It is based on this that there was an order from the IGP that all regional, divisional and district police commanders to embark on this exercise to help check the carnages on our roads\u2026The macho men did not attack only Sgt Kwame Tinkorang but they also attacked Lance Corporal Gyedu Blay in front of Filla FM.
