Chairman of the festival planning committee, Mr. Disu  Holloway, said last weekend that this year\u2019s festival will hold on  February 5.<br \/>\nHolloway said this at an interactive session with newsmen at the palace of the Lagos monarch, Oba Rilwanu Akiolu.<br \/>\nAccording to him, \u2018\u2019the festival which was scheduled to have taken place  in October last year was shifted to February this year due to the West  African Senior Certificate Examinations (WASSCE), November\/December in  the country then.<br \/>\nWith the new date in place, people from all walks of life will be able to attend the historic Eyo festival.<br \/>\nCorroborating the chairman, Chief Fatai Lawal Olumegbon, the  Olumegbon\u00a0 of Lagos, noted that this is the second edition of the unique  and repackaged event of the festival. It will feature a lot of cultural  performances from various groups which is similar to other festivals in  Lagos.<br \/>\nHowever, he warned that any masquerade caught outside Lagos Island  during the festival would be arrested and prosecuted. He added that  adequate security had been put in place ensure safety of life and  property during the festival.<br \/>\nAs a way of boosting and sustaining tourism and culture in Lagos  State, the government has promised to continue to support the yearly  festival.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Benjamin NJOKU Another Eyo festival, the signature cultural festivity of Lagos is around the corner.
