Rukky Sanda<\/figcaption><\/figure>
\nRukkie who is definitely not a rookie in the movie industry, a couple of years back chose Nollywood over the N25 billion-rich banks, after graduating at the Lagos State University and has since never looked back. The stunningly beautiful actress, born and bred in Lagos, spoke with WOLE AJAYI recently about her journey so far in the world of make believe. Excerpts:
\nSeems Rukkie is your showbiz name could you tell us your real names?
\nRukkie is my real name. It\u2019s the shortened form of Rukayat, and my surname is Sanda.
\nWhen did your love for acting start?
\nI had really wanted to act for a very long time. In my school days, I used to be involved in plays and cultural dances. So I had passion for it right from my high school days.
\nWhich school did you attend?
\nLagos State Model College, Igbokuta, Ikorodu.
\nThereafter?
\nYeah, I moved to Lagos State University (LASU) Ojo where I studied Banking and\u00a0 Finance.
\nHow long have you been in the industry?
\nActually I\u2019ve been in the industry for three years now. I had my debut appearance in 2004 but serious acting for me started in 2006, I started with Angel And The Beast in 2004
\nWere you involved in stage productions at LASU?
\nNo
\nHow did your parents react to your going into acting?
\nAt first, my dad wasn\u2019t okay with the decision. It was like \u201cyou have to finish at school first before you get involved in anything like that\u201d.\u00a0 So finished schooling and I\u2019m now concentrating on acting. He\u2019s okay with it now, after I\u2019ve had first degree.
\nWhat about your mum?
\nShe\u2019s okay with it. She loves watching movies, so she doesn\u2019t have any problem with me acting.
\nHow many movies have you featured in so far?
\nAbout 16. I\u2019m now working on the 17th and 18th.
\nCould you mention some of them?
\nStrength of love, Legal war, Campus love, My Precious Son, Weeping Tiger and many more. I can\u2019t recollect their titles; usually the scripts don\u2019t come with titles.
\nHow has the journey been so far? <\/strong>
\nHas been good
\nThat means you\u2019ve made enough dough<\/strong>
\nIf I had made enough money, I won\u2019t still be working.
\nSince you studied Banking and Finance, would you still love to go back to \tthat line one day? <\/strong>
\nMaybe in the future but definitely not now.
\nDo you have any role model or mentor in the industry? <\/strong>
\nLiz Benson and Patience Ozokwo.
\nTell us your favourite actors and actresses. <\/strong>
\nPatience Ozokwo, Genevieve, Ramsey Nouah, Alex Usifo and Olu Jacobs.

\nHow have the fame and glamour of movie affected your life? <\/strong>
\nNothing is getting over my head; I\u2019m still my normal self.
\nHow do you handle sexual harassment? Or do you think it doesn\u2019t exist? <\/strong>
\nIt does. But it doesn\u2019t happen to me. I\u2019ve not been sexually harassed.
\nTales abound on how producers take young girls to bed before turning them \tinto stars. Are you ignorant of that?<\/strong>
\nI\u2019ve heard about it, but I\u2019ve not experienced it.
\nAlright, how do you react to love advances from the opposite sex? <\/strong>
\nI don\u2019t encourage it. I\u2019m in a relationship.
\nI guess, you don\u2019t just turn them off. <\/strong>
\nI just say, thank you, I\u2019m in a relationship and I try to be nice about it \tso that I don\u2019t hurt anyone\u2019s feelings.
\nAnd You think with that they\u2019d let you be?<\/strong>
\nEhn now, they have to!
\n(Laughs)
\nCan you date your colleague? <\/strong>
\nThere\u2019s nothing wrong in that but I\u2019m in a relationship, out of the \tindustry.
\nCould you tell us about him? <\/strong>
\nWell, all I\u2019ll say is that he\u2019s a Yoruba guy and we\u2019ve been together for \tabout three years. My love life is booming!
\nHow old are you?
\n24 years old (2007)
\nWhat\u2019s your favourite meal?
\nRice and snail.
\nWhat about drinks and cigarettes?
\nI don\u2019t drink, I don\u2019t smoke. I like Fanta (laughs)
\nIs there any memorable incident you want to share with us as an actress?
\nThere was this time we were shooting, and we got to the location and it was really crazy, the owner of the house forgot to tell the security man that we were coming so we were kept outside for like four hours. And finally, when the landlord came, you know what? He says, \u201cyou can\u2019t use my house anymore, I\u2019ve changed my mind.\u201d That was really painful.
\nWhere do you see yourself in five years time?
\nEverywhere I\u2019m going to achieve so much. Five years is a along time, so five years, I\u2019d have been everywhere around the world.
\nIf you\u2019re playing Juliet, who among your male colleagues would you want as Romeo?
\nRight now, the only actor I\u2019ve not worked with is Ramsey Nouah. So if I\u2019m playing Juliet I\u2019d want him as Romeo. Aside that, he\u2019s a good actor.
