\nBlessing used to model in Nigeria until she left to pursue her modeling career in SA, where it is learnt she\u2019s one of the most sought-after models. She\u2019s modeled in New York, Paris Milan, Cape town, you name it\u2026for real.
\nShe even featured in the season finale fashion show of America\u2019s Next Top Model, cycle 5, which held in SA. The edition Naima won.
\nBlessing has been on more runways than any other Nigerian model can boast of. And she knows how to capture the attention of even the most uninterested person. Her skills are phenomenal.

\nLife as a model \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\twas fast and \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tfun, short-lived \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tbut got to a \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\treasonable and \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tfulfilling \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tstage. \nHow did your \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tforay into \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tNollywood begin?
\nAfter graduating \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tfrom the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tUniversity of \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tCalabar in 2001, \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\twhere I studied \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\ttheater arts, \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tbanking was the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tfirst job that \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tcame calling but \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tI obviously \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tdidn’t last six \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tmonths in the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tindustry. Full \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\ttime modelling \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\ttook over and \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthen \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tsubsequently, a \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tfilm role here \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tand there, it \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\twasn’t until I \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tfurthered my \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tstudies in film \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tmaking in South \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tAfrica that I \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tdecided to \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tindulge fully in \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthe business, \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\twriting, \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tproducing and \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tstarring in my \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tworks.
\nWhich movie gave \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tyou your break?
\nAs a writer\/ \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tproducer, it \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\twould be Before \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tthe Vow, as an \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tactress, I \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\twouldn’t really \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tknow.
\nHow long have \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tyou been in the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tmovie industry?
\nOff and on, five \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tyears.
\nWhat are the \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tchallenges you \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\thave faced since \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tyou took to \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tacting?
\nSwitching from \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tmodelling to \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tacting may seem \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\teasy as they are \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tall interwoven \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tbut the reality \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tis different. In \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tmodelling, you \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tare kind of \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\trobotic. \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tWhereas, in \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tacting, the key \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tword is \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\trelaxation and \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tcomplete \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tinvolvement, so \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tI would say that \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\thas been my \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tmajor challenge.
\nWhat was your \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tfirst \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tprofessional \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tfee?
\nIt was N8, 000 \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tin the movie \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tBleeding Heart, \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\twhere I did four \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tscenes as a \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tbarmaid to Ngozi \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tNwosu.
\nWhat separates you from other actresses in the industry?
\nMy ways, my lifestyle, my person, my entire morphology.
\nWhat has been the high point of your career as an entertainer?
\nIn modelling, apart from earning the top dollar jobs, it would be me representing Nigeria at the top model competition in Lebanon in 2003 and then working with Tyra Banks for the America next top model competition. Sound cheesy, but at the time, I thought these incidences were the highest points of my career. In the moviedom, I’m yet to get to the peak, but for now, my movie The Rivals winning the Best International Drama at the New York festival will suffice.
\nWhat do you look out for when you accepts movie scripts?
\nAs a scriptwriter, I’m taught to always have interesting and inviting things in my story that would make any actor want to play the role. So, for me, that is what I look out for in a script; substance if it’s a serious story and if it is not then I’ll go for the fun content any day.
\nYou seem to operate on a low profile, why is this so?
\nI’ve always been one to operate that way, it’s just the way I am, I don’t think there’s anything to it really, but I have my loud moments and definitely my crazy moments.
\nWhat is your unique selling point?
\nJust being open and plain and telling it like it is, transparent in my business and social dealings and somewhat time perfect.
\nOutside entertainment, what else does Blessing do that takes most of her time?
\nBefore now, travelling and exploring life took the cake, but in the past year, settling down, pregnancy and now nursing has taken over.
\nDo you have any regrets going into entertainment?
\nNo, but I do have regrets working with a replicating company called Ecomax Technologies.
\nThey made a silly and unprofessional blunder of running a Yoruba film titled, Taiwo Taiwo over The Rivals, a movie which I produced with Omoni Oboli. Having gone through so much and spent so much money, the company had to ruin it by their mistake. We are in the process of sorting that out now and will make it known to the public what happens. But the good copies are now in circulation so people can buy copies now. Other than this I have no regrets coming into the industry.
\nGive us a peek into your private life?
\nI have always and I’m still enjoying a relaxed and happy private life and I am not about to make it chaotic by giving you a peek into it so you can hound me.
\nWhat was growing up like for you?
\nInteresting. I grew up in the barracks in Port Harcourt, enjoyed the simplicity of life where everyone had a close-knit life and family was key. There were no problems of fear and insecurity and uncertainty of the government and economy. Life was good.
\nRecount some childhood experiences you cherish.
\nAt about four years of age, I used to be the dance champion in all parties so much so that I had a little showcase at the governors’ party then.
\nWhat informed your decision to do what you are doing at the moment?
\nDestiny and plenty of brainstorming and planning.
\nWho is the man in your life?
\nMy hubby.
\nWhen did you meet him and what is the latest on your state of health, you know what I mean?
\nWe met, we got married, I got pregnant and now we have a baby.
\nInformed from your experience in the movie industry, where do you think we are heading?
\nTo the rocks if we are not careful.
\nWhat is your philosophy of life?
\nPlan, plan and more plan.
\nWhat does friendship mean to you?
\nTrust, truth and dependence.
