Anita Hogan<\/figcaption><\/figure>
\nAlthough she\u2019s been in Nollywood for sometime, many people \t\t\t \t\tdid not know Anita Hogan until she took part in Gulder \t\t\t\t\tUltimate Search.
\nThe Akwa Ibom born starlet says she does not get a lot of \t\t\t\t \tmale admirers and many of the few who come her way just want \t\t\t\t\tto get between her legs.
\nWhen did your journey in acting start?
\nWhen I was a teenager way back in Kaduna before I went to \t\t\t\t \tthe university, my dad asked me what I would love to be. I \t\t\t\t\tsaid I wanted to be an actress and he was furious that one \t\t\t\t\tof his three children wanted to be an irresponsible person. \t\t\t\t\tHe is a PhD holder. But being an educated person, he \t\t\t\t\tunderstood that he did not need to twist my hand to do what \t\t\t\t\tI don\u2019t want to do. So I did not come into the industry by \t\t\t\t\tmistake. I had my first degree in Theatre Arts and I have \t\t\t\t\talways been part of stage drama.
\nWhen did you start professionally?
\nThat was in 1999 when I was doing my youth service. I \t\t\t\t\t went for an audition for a sitcom called One Big Family. I \t\t\t\t\twas chosen to play a lead role among almost a thousand \t\t\t\t\tpeople and I think it was one of the signs by God that He is \t\t\t\t\twith me. I was working with DBN where I was doing my youth \t\t\t\t\tservice then. But I took a three-year break when I realised \t\t\t\t\tthat as a dark skinned person, you won\u2019t make wave in the \t\t\t\t\tindustry until Genevieve came and broke that jinx.
\nWhere did you work?
\nI worked with CAF as a Public Relation Officer and later, \t\t\t\t \twith a marketing company. The major reason I had to work was \t\t\t\t\tthat my mother came down with a terrible stroke and I did \t\t\t\t\tnot want her to die. I am the first child and I knew that I \t\t\t\t\twould lose my mum if I didn\u2019t do something urgently. The \t\t\t\t\tsacrifice was worth it because she is still alive.
\nHow many lead roles have you played?
\nI don\u2019t want to spite God but I\u2019m not this kind of person \t\t\t\t \tthat hits it big form the beginning, everything in life I\u2019ve \t\t\t\t\thad to start from the scratch. I started with one scene in \t\t\t\t\tOrdained. After that, Tarila Johnson heard me speak and he \t\t\t\t\tsaid I have good diction and he asked me to come for an \t\t\t\t\taudition; he gave me roles in Aristo, Silent for life, and \t\t\t\t\tVirgin Night Out. I was also in Immoral Act.
\nHow often do you go on set?
\nBefore I went for the Ultimate Search I was always on one \t\t\t\t \tset or another, but when I came back, people had been having \t\t\t\t\ta re-think before they called me. They are scared my fees \t\t\t\t\twould have gone up.
\nTell us about your programme on TV
\nI have a programme called Entertainment Plus on MBI. It\u2019s \t\t\t\t \tbeen very nice though we are using our money to package the \t\t\t\t\t programme so that our dreams won\u2019t die.
\nYou don\u2019t go on set regularly and your TV programme is \t\t\t\t\tnot fetching you much money, how do you pick your bills?
\nI am one person that manages the little money I make. \t\t\t\t\t I\u2019ve bought a lot of shares. I have a shop that sells \t\t\t\t\t entertainment goods.
\nWhat was your experience like after the Ultimate Search?
\nIt is one event that changed my life completely; it is \t\t\t\t\t something that I will forever remember because it impacted \t\t\t\t\t something positive into my life. I met a lot of people at \t\t\t\t\tNigerian Breweries. I met other contestants that are like \t\t\t\t\tbrothers to me forever and I got to know about the most \t\t\t\t\tbeautiful place on earth, the Obudu Ranch Resort. I\u2019ve been \t\t\t\t\tthere again to spend one week. I went for the event because \t\t\t\t\tof the adventure in me.
\nHow much did you get from the show?
\nI left with approximately N500, 000.
\nDon\u2019t you think you need to do some form of modification \t\t\t\t\tso that you can get a lot of male admirers?
\nWe are all different. I\u2019m into more serious dealings. If \t\t\t\t\ta man is looking at me, he should have something to offer. \t\t\t\t\tWhat will make me different from every other girl is what he \t\t\t\t\tis going to get from me. If you don\u2019t have any positive \t\t\t\t\tinfluence in my life then why are you associating with me? \t\t\t\t\tLife is a serious matter.
\nWhat do you have to offer that every other girl doesn\u2019t \t\t\t\t\thave?
\nIf a guy is wooing me basically it is from the angle of \t\t\t\t\t having intimacy with me. I\u2019m looking forward to a serious \t\t\t\t\t relationship. If I were married would you be toasting me? \t\t\t\t\tYou won\u2019 be disrespecting me by thinking you have to lay me. \t\t\t\t\tIf you think I have no other thing to offer than sex you are \t\t\t\t\tdisrespecting me.
\nDon\u2019t you think some guys want something more than sex?
\nYes I know but in this our kind of job you don\u2019t know who is really serious. That is why I\u2019m very close to God so that I can tell the difference between the chaff and the wheat. Most times when guys come it is for sex.
\nBut if you don\u2019t give them a chance how will you know the serious?
\nThat is why one needs to pray. For instance I\u2019ve had two fans call me constantly and when I met them it was disappointing. They were immediately intimidated the moment I got there. They were each like \u2018I didn\u2019t know you are this tall.\u2019
\nWhat will it take for you to say yes?
\nI shouldn\u2019t teach you. If you find me attractive it is natural. I like someone who is God-fearing, educated and someone who is large hearted. Please let\u2019s not make any mistake; I\u2019m currently dating someone.
\nWhat were your days in school like?
\nIt was tough because my father got an impromptu retirement from the military. It was a big struggle for me, the challenge made me finish up on time.
\nDid you date on campus?
\nWhen I got into university, I said I would not date a student so I ended up dating a working class person and I regretted it. But I dated a student later and it was beautiful.
\nHow many guys have you dated?
\nDating for me is not intimacy. I remember dating a guy for six months and there was no intimacy. Relationship doesn\u2019t have to involve sex to make it beautiful.
\nHow many guys have had intimacy with?
\nMaybe, you will give me time to go home and calculate
\nI guess it was during your time with the medical doctor that you had your first sexual experience
\nYes.
\nTell us about your current guy
\nHe is more mature than I am. We are learning about each other. He is into IT and based in Europe.
\nYou said you are closer to God now. Doesn\u2019t that prevent you from having sex?
\nWe misunderstand God from what He expects of us. God is a fun person to be with. If He can accept a murderer, why won\u2019t He accept us? God understands even when we fall and sometimes you don\u2019t learn except from experience. For instance, I know of a husband and wife that lived in the same house for five years and did not have sex. The marriage eventually collapsed. Do you think married people do it everyday?
\nDon\u2019t you do it with your guy?
\nIt is easy for me because he is based in Europe and only comes every now and then.
\nNothing happens during those every now and then?
\nWe\u2019ve cuddled; we\u2019ve kissed but no sex. You won\u2019t believe it. And we have been together for a year and half.
