\nTalking about Nollywood. How and when did you come in?<\/strong>
\nI came into acting after Ben Bruce\u2019s Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria Pageant \tin \u201993, where I was the second runners-up. I represented Delta State. The \twinner that year was Roli Gbinigie. After that I got into modeling and did \tsome calendar jobs and TV adverts. Leo Onwordi, who was a family friend of \tours then brought me into the industry. He told me to come for an audition \tof a TV soap titled Daughters of Eve, but unfortunately, we didn\u2019t get the \tproject started due to lack of sponsors. I came in fully into Nollywood \tbetween 94\/95 on the set of Karishika, where I was given a scene to play. My \tbreakthrough came via Piccadilly and Domitilla 2. All my movies put together \tfrom then till now are not up to 50.
\nHas any among these your movies really challenged you?<\/strong>
\nThe truth is that my role in Domitilla as a lesbian still follows me behind. \tEven though, I\u2019m not one. Piccadilly really challenged me. I got a scar on \tmy face from that movie while learning how to ride a power bike. Echoes, was \talso demanding, because I clean shaved in that movie, also with Scouts and \tRebels. I like tasking movies a lot, not the normal bedroom types.
\nAs a child growing up, was becoming an actress on your mind?<\/strong>
\nAs a child growing up, I was wrapped up in my own world of fantasies \t dreaming of becoming a career diplomat. And by the grace of God, I will \tachieve that some day. As a child then, I also dreamt of living on my own \tpoultry farmland. It was so for me, because I grew up in the north. I was \tborn in Jos and grew up in Bauchi. Growing up in the north then was lovely.
\nHow about your father, you\u2019ve been talking about your mum alone since \tthis interview began?<\/strong>
\nMy parents are separated, but my dad is still alive.
\nAs a pretty and rising actress then did some producers and directors \tharass you sexually?<\/strong>
\nNo! Nobody ever did that to me. Everything has to do with your qualities and \tprinciples. My aura and principles kept them at bay. Then it was not easy \tattending six to seven auditions in a day. And I must also confess that it \twas not easy for me getting to the top.
\nHow would you describe Alex Lopez?<\/strong>
\nAlex is just a very simple and homely person.
\nTell us about your family?<\/strong>
\nI\u2019m from a family of five girls and a boy. I\u2019m child number two. It\u2019s a \tlovely family. My father is a Brazilian while my mum is from Obosi, Anambra \tState. I\u2019m a naturalized Lagosian.
\nWhen was the last time you met with your dad one on one?
\nI see him whenever I want to see him.
\nHow is the relationship like?<\/strong>
\nGood!
\nAt 31, has love been fair to you?<\/strong>
\nWell, love hasn\u2019t really been fair to me, because as an actress lots of \tpeople don\u2019t take you serious. They feel because you are an actress, \tautomatically you should be wayward and not the kind of person to take home \tto mama and papa. It takes a patient man to see the kind of person that Alex \tis\u2026 My love life has been good and bad.
\nPresently are you into an affair?<\/strong>
\nNo! I\u2019m not into any right now. It\u2019s less stressful for me. And I\u2019m not \tsearching for a man right now.
\nAre you insinuating that you don\u2019t want to have anything to do with men \tagain?<\/strong>
\nI\u2019m not insinuating that. If the right person comes I might give it a trial. \tI\u2019m looking for that man that will understand me as Alex and not as an \tactress. Men like women that are not truthful to them, especially the ones \tthat live fake lives. Most men find it difficult flowing with real women who \tare also sincere.
\nIs marriage on your mind?<\/strong>
\nMarriage is on every woman\u2019s mind, because that was what God created us to \tbe-companions to the men.
\nAre you saying mum is not pressuring you to get married?<\/strong>
\nMummy understands and wants the best man for Alex.
\nWhat kind of man would appeal to you?<\/strong>
\nMy ideal man must have a sense of loyalty, be patient with me and also love \tmy son. He should also be God-fearing
\nDo you believe in love?<\/strong>
\nI believe in God\u2019s kind of love, its called Agape love. It is the love that \tdoes not let you down. Everlasting kind of love. Love to me is all about \trespecting the person that is with you\u2026 definitely love to me is not all \tabout sex or lusting after somebody.
\nWhat are your passions & phobia?<\/strong>
\nl love working out, cooking and sleeping a lot. I don\u2019t think I like pets. \tHeight is my biggest phobia.
\nAs a top actress, what would you say is your biggest achievement?
\nStarting from the scratch and getting to the top of my career is my biggest \tachievement in Nollywood today.
\nWhat kind of legacy do you want to leave behind as a top actress?<\/strong>
\nI want to be remembered as that actress who started from the scratch and \trose to the height of my career through dint of hard work without couch \tcasting.
\nAs a pretty and top actress, how do you cope with advances from men?<\/strong>
\nI\u2019m a very jovial and interesting person. I always laugh off their advances.
\nWho are your closest pals in Nollywood?<\/strong>
\nI have Uche Jombo, Susan Patrick and few others.
\nWhen next are you going back to soaps?
\nSoon, we are shooting a new soap for NTA, its called Haven. I\u2019m playing the lead role. It will start running from the first week of May.
\nHas acting been financially rewarding to you?
\nYes, except that some of us are not being paid our worth.
