{"id":273629,"date":"2011-01-12T14:48:58","date_gmt":"2011-01-12T14:48:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/?p=46584"},"modified":"2011-01-12T14:48:58","modified_gmt":"2011-01-12T14:48:58","slug":"cpp-will-wean-ghanas-economy-off-imf-wb-ladi-nylander","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/01\/12\/cpp-will-wean-ghanas-economy-off-imf-wb-ladi-nylander\/","title":{"rendered":"CPP will wean Ghana\u2019s economy off IMF, WB- Ladi Nylander"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Convention Peoples\u2019 Party (CPP),  on Tuesday, said it would take an aggressive stance to sustain the  country\u2019s economy internally and wean it off the International Monetary  Fund (IMF), the World Bank (WB) and other financial institutions.<br \/>\nMr Ladi Nylander, the chairman of the Party said this at a press  conference, to outline its \u201chow the CPP will do it: reaching out to the  grass root\u201d programme, in Cape Coast.<br \/>\nHe said for the  economy to be independent of foreign assistance, the Party will have to  re-design existing agreements for the exploration of Ghana\u2019s natural  resources.<br \/>\nThe programme was attended by the big wigs of the  party, among them, were the newly formed shadow ministers, made up of  Professor Agyemang Badu Akorsa, for Health, Abu Sakara, Agriculture, Mr  Kojo Armah, Education and Naa Kordoi Addy, Social Welfare.<br \/>\nOthers were Wing Commander (rtd) Pat Sorgbordzor, Defense, Mr Bright  Akwetey, Justice and Attorney General, Kwame Gyantoah, Energy and Dr.  Paa Kwesi Nduom, Finance and Economic Planning.<br \/>\nHe said the  CPP\u2019s \u201cbring the economy back home\u201d policy, is to ensure that Ghanaian  entrepreneurs, investors, professionals and workers became the main  players, as well as beneficiaries, of its resources, and that, it will  give full financial and technical support to local companies to enable  them to perform well, he said.<br \/>\nMr Nylander noted that, all  these measures are to help prevent the situation where the future of the  country\u2019s children will be mortgaged through bad loan agreements and  other deals, such as the STX Korea and the current oil and gas  agreements, contracted by the National Democratic Congress (NDC)  administration.<br \/>\nHe said a CPP government will not divest the  Ghana Railway Service and the Agricultural Development Bank, but would  work to develop and maintain them for the benefit of all.<br \/>\nThe CPP chairman said it will also set up an agricultural development  process that will be community based, to allow community participation  and ownership while environmental management will also be on the same  basis to sustain it.<br \/>\nHe said the economy, as well as  investment potentials of every region, will be incorporated into the  national development plan, to foster continuity in the event of a change  of government, and underscored the need for the country to pursue a  national agenda devoid of political interference.<br \/>\n\u201cThe CPP  will build a strong economy and a new Ghana, where the economy will  depend on the human resource of the country, with the youth at the  centre\u201d.<br \/>\nMr Nylander said the Party\u2019s supporters and  sympathizers could not afford to offer conditional support, as it was  seriously organizing right from the grass root to ensure victory.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Convention Peoples\u2019 Party (CPP), on Tuesday, said it would take an aggressive stance to sustain the country\u2019s economy internally and wean it off the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank (WB) and other financial institutions.
