{"id":273402,"date":"2011-01-10T16:03:01","date_gmt":"2011-01-10T16:03:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/?p=46098"},"modified":"2011-01-10T16:03:01","modified_gmt":"2011-01-10T16:03:01","slug":"mr-ibu-blames-politicians-for-family-kidnap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/01\/10\/mr-ibu-blames-politicians-for-family-kidnap\/","title":{"rendered":"Mr. Ibu Blames Politicians For Family Kidnap"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><figure id=\"attachment_45632\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-45632\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-45632\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/2011\/01\/08\/abductors-of-mr-ibu%e2%80%99s-wife-children-demand-n6m-ransom\/mribu1\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-45632\" title=\"Mribu1\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/Mribu1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"366\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-45632\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">John Okafor and Wife<\/figcaption><\/figure><br \/>\nBy Tony EDIKE<br \/>\nKidnappers of the wife and children  of a popular Nollywood actor, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu  from Enugu State, yesterday, reduced the ransom they are demanding for  their release from the initial N50 million to N6 million.<br \/>\nA gang  of hoodlums suspected to be kidnappers had Tuesday night invaded the  Agbani Road home of top actor in the Coal City and abducted his wife and  three children.<br \/>\nThe criminals who reportedly came in a BMW car  later released two of his children, a boy and girl, but were still  holding the wife and one of the sons as at the time of filing this  report.<br \/>\nSpeaking with reporters on phone yesterday, Okafor  expressed dismay over the continued withholding of his wife and son by  the kidnappers, saying that he has continued to plead with them to  release them but all to no avail as they have insisted on getting the  money before doing so.<br \/>\n\u201cI am in touch with them, even before your  call came in, we just finished talking and they are seriously demanding  N6 million and nothing less before they could release my people. I\u2019ve  pleaded with them; I wish they will hear my cry and release them,\u201d he  said.<br \/>\nAsked whether the police had made any impact in tracking  down the suspected kidnappers, Mr. Ibu said \u201cNo\u201d, but expressed hope  that the police would make an in-road before long.<br \/>\nExpressing  optimism that the kidnappers would soon free the victims, Okafor  attributed the increasing rate of crime and criminality in the south  east to the activities of politicians whom he accused of arming  innocent, frustrated and jobless youths with dangerous weapons, because  of their greed for power.<br \/>\nHe said: \u201cIf you ask me to comment more  on this incessant issue of kidnapping, I will blame it on desperate  politicians who are the ones arming these jobless youths.
