The President of the Republic, Prof John Evans Fiifi Atta Mills in a manner archetypal of people hailing from the Central Region caused the ribs of Senior Journalists to tickle with uncontrolled laughter during the Editors Forum held on Friday, January 7 at the Castle, Osu, when he triggered series of spontaneous hilarity, most especially with the remark that he was not a cat-hunter, in apparent reference to the \u201cmany ways of killing a cat\u201d saga.
\nHe was responding to a question by Editor of The Ghanaian Lens, Koby Fiagbe, that allegations are rife that he (the President) was working to remove the Chief Justice, Justice Georgina Wood from office.
\nAccording to President Mills, he is not someone who is in the habit of hunting cats and therefore has no intention of hunting anybody.
\n\u201cStand here and look in my face. Do I look like a cat hunter?\u201d he asked jovially.
\nInteracting with Editors and Senior Journalists of media houses in the country and beyond, President Mills said there was no truth in such speculative reports that his administration was considering ways to oust the Chief Justice from office.
\nIt would be recalled that the National Chairman of the NDC, Dr. Kwabena Adjei and some NDC goons, including the party\u2019s 10 Regional Chairmen, somewhere last year, had cause to describe the judiciary as corrupt and to also register a vote of no-confidence in the Chief Justice, Mrs. Georgina Theodora Wood by even calling for her immediate resignation.
\nAccording to them, the CJ has and is compromising on her position by unnecessarily influencing the judiciary and justice delivery system of the country.
\nDr. Kwabena Adjei in an interview with the media issued a caveat to the CJ to clean up the judiciary or the NDC will be forced to do that for her.
\nDebunking reports that he plans going after Mrs. Georgina Theodora Wood, the learned Professor, at a media interaction today, stated that he harbors no such intentions.
