{"id":273075,"date":"2011-01-07T14:38:18","date_gmt":"2011-01-07T14:38:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/?p=45382"},"modified":"2011-01-07T14:38:18","modified_gmt":"2011-01-07T14:38:18","slug":"your-skills-can-fetch-you-extra-cash-businessman","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/01\/07\/your-skills-can-fetch-you-extra-cash-businessman\/","title":{"rendered":"Your skills can fetch you extra cash \u2013 Businessman"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A lawyer and businessman, Takyi Micah has charged Ghanaians to put their skills to productive, income earning activities.<br \/>\nMr  Micah said ventures such as grass-cutter rearing, painting and  catering, which are looked down upon in the country are very viable  vocations and encouraged people to start such ventures which could even  fetch an individual more money than one\u2019s regular salary.<br \/>\nSpeaking on Joy FM\u2019s <strong>Super Morning Show<strong>, Mr Micah said even the rich are never satisfied with their salary because of more demands they have to meet.<br \/>\nHe  said it was in this light that Ghanaians should start taking their  natural talents more seriously and invest in them in order to increase  their revenue streams.<br \/>\n\u201cIf you have these skills, people need these skills and are prepared to pay for it,\u201d he said.<br \/>\nThrowing more light on the issue, Mr Micah said there are two forms of investments, namely, <strong>skills-based income generation<\/strong> and <strong>investment-based income generation<\/strong>.<br \/>\nHe described <strong>skills-based income generation<\/strong> as the type that involves employing one&#8217;s skills into a commercial  venture while (and persons lacking any skill could acquire them) while <strong>investment based income generation<\/strong> involves raising capital from either savings or friends to pursue the interest.<br \/>\nLaying  heavy emphasis on livestock production such as grass-cutter rearing, he  said the venture was very viable and that one kilogram of grass-cutter  meat was almost twice the price of the equivalent weight of beef or  mutton, adding that a kilogram of grass-cutter meat could fetch up to  GH\u00a28.<br \/>\n\u201cGrass-cutter meat per kilo costs almost double per kilo of beef or goat meat.<br \/>\n\u201cYou can sell a very large grass-cutter for between 50 and 80 Ghana cedis,\u201d he indicated.<br \/>\nMr Micah said he knew of people who had white-collar jobs and making a lot of money through their skills.<br \/>\n\u201cIn  the place where I live, there is a lady I understand works in one of  the banks in Ghana. On every Saturday, you\u2019ll find a fleet of cars  parked in front of her house and when you ask what they are doing, they  will tell you \u2018we are going to buy kenkey\u2019,\u201d he said.<br \/>\n&#8220;By six o\u2019clock, if you are not in the queue, by ten, you will not get the kenkey&#8230;\u201d he said.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A lawyer and businessman, Takyi Micah has charged Ghanaians to put their skills to productive, income earning activities.
