The first vessel to market Ghana\u2019s oil, the Spike has begun operations at the Jubilee oil field.
\nThe vessel, which arrived at the field on January 3, 2011, is to commence the process of taking oil from the FPSO Kwame Nkrumah. Inspection and certification by the Ghana Maritime Authority at the Tema Habour was carried out on arrival before the vessel left for the Jubilee field.
\nSpike, which came from Libya, has the capacity to take more than 100,000 tonnes of oil and was built in July 2010.
\nThe deputy director in charge of inspections and survey at the Ghana Maritime Authority, Captain William Thompson told Citi News the vessel is in good condition and should face no problem in its operations.
