{"id":272704,"date":"2011-01-04T12:18:14","date_gmt":"2011-01-04T12:18:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/?p=44536"},"modified":"2011-01-04T12:18:14","modified_gmt":"2011-01-04T12:18:14","slug":"mills-scores-64-6-in-the-mo-ibrahim-index","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/01\/04\/mills-scores-64-6-in-the-mo-ibrahim-index\/","title":{"rendered":"Mills Scores 64.6 in The Mo Ibrahim Index"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><figure id=\"attachment_44537\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-44537\" style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-44537\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/2011\/01\/04\/mills-scores-64-6-in-the-mo-ibrahim-index\/attamills1\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-44537\" title=\"attamills1\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/attamills1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"600\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-44537\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">President Atta Mills<\/figcaption><\/figure><br \/>\nPresident John Evans Atta Mills has been rated &#8216;A&#8217; alongside four other African leaders for their outstanding leadership style.<br \/>\nPresident  Mills scored 64.6 in The Mo Ibrahim Index, ranking 7th on the list,  received 5.35 in the Democracy Index, obtained 8.00 in the Press Freedom  Index, while scoring 4.1 in the Corruption Index to obtain a total  score of 72.56, giving him the final grade of &#8216;A&#8217;.<br \/>\nAn African  Presidents Index, which sures the performance and leadership styles of  African, also rated high, the leadership styles of Mr Navinchandra  Ramgoolam, the Prime Minister of Mauritius; President Pedro Verona  Rodriques Pires of Cape Verde, Presi\u00addent Seretse Ian Khama of Botswana  and Pres\u00adident Hifikepunye Lucas Rohamba of Namib\u00adia.<br \/>\nOn the flip  side of the index, the leaders of Zimbabwe, Somalia, Cameroon, The  Sudan, Guinea, Chad, Equatorial Guinea and Eritrea received appalling  performance ratings ranging between 0 and 30.<br \/>\nAccording to the  index conducted by the East African Magazine, the leaders&#8217; grades were  derived from how they placed in five respected international indices of  governance and a new political index developed by the magazine.<br \/>\nAccording  to the methodology used in the study, the indices were weighted and  then combined to produce a score out of 100. The best governors placed  close to 100 while the worst leaders scored close to 0 in the study  which heavily rewarded consistency in leadership style.<br \/>\nThe  report explained that an African leader who received high scores in one  or two areas but low scores in the rest of the areas considered in the  study ended with a dismal overall grade.<br \/>\nA consistent score across the board, on the other hand, was needed to place any African leader in the best grade.<br \/>\nAccording to the study, leaders were assigned letter grades based on their score from 0 to 100, derived from six indices.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>President John Evans Atta Mills has been rated &#8216;A&#8217; alongside four other African leaders for their outstanding leadership style.
