{"id":272586,"date":"2011-01-01T22:04:45","date_gmt":"2011-01-01T22:04:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/?p=44262"},"modified":"2011-01-01T22:04:45","modified_gmt":"2011-01-01T22:04:45","slug":"goldfields-pays-26-5m-to-govt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/01\/01\/goldfields-pays-26-5m-to-govt\/","title":{"rendered":"Goldfields pays $26.5m to gov\u2019t"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Goldfields (Ghana) Limited yesterday  paid a total of 26.5 million dollars to the government as corporate tax  in respect of its two mines, Tarkwa and Aboso Gold Mines.<br \/>\nThe  amount brings to a total of 74 million dollars in corporate taxes paid  to the government between January and December, this year, covering the  two mines in the Western Region.<br \/>\nPresenting cheques covering the  amount, Martin Ahorney, Finance Manager of Goldfields Ghana, said the  company had this year alone paid more them 157 million dollars to the  government as corporate taxes, royalties, dividends, PAYE and National  Stabilization levy.<br \/>\nHe said Goldfields Ghana was pleased to have  contributed to the national agenda, and that he company would do its  best to contribute to the national economy in every aspect.<br \/>\nMr. Ahorney said the company would continue to ensure that operations of both mines were done in a responsible manner.<br \/>\n\u201cGoldfields,  will continue to collaborate with key stakeholders, particularly the  government of Ghana, to harness the resources I nits operational areas  for our mutual benefits,\u201d he said.<br \/>\nFinance and Economic Planning  Minister, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, who received the cheques, commended  Goldfields Ghana for its commitment to the \u2018Better Ghana\u2019 agenda, noting  that this should be an example worthy of emulation by other companies  in the country.<br \/>\nHe said receiving such an amount at this time of  the year, was really important, saying, \u201cWe want to put on record what  you have done for Ghana, especially at this time of the year\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Goldfields (Ghana) Limited yesterday paid a total of 26.5 million dollars to the government as corporate tax in respect of its two mines, Tarkwa and Aboso Gold Mines.
