Mr. Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, the Eastern Regional Minister, said on Wednesday that it is not a crime for a Christian to be a politician.
\n\u201cIt is not a crime for the Christian to be in politics since politics is about people and Christian ministering is also about people.\u201d
\nMr Ofosu-Ampofo said while politicians looked at the social welfare of the people, the pastor also looked at the spiritual welfare of the people and this together brings about a holistic welfare outlook.
\nThe Eastern Regional Minister said this when speaking in Koforidua at the Youth Camp Meeting of the Great Commission Church International (GCCI).
\nThe camp meeting was attended by members of the national executive council of the church and a cross section of the youth from the southern sector of the church.
\nThe theme for the occasion was \u201cA New Beginning\u201d.
\nMr. Ofosu-Ampofo told the youth that the fundamental underpinning for a new beginning was discipline.
\n\u201cDiscipline is very fundamental in our quest for a new beginning. Discipline in our social lives and discipline in our national lives are the bases for national development,\u201d he said.
\n\u201cDiscipline is where you do not look beyond your shoulders to check if someone is looking at you or not; but rather listening to that small voice that tells you this is not good, do not do it, or this is good do it.\u201d
\nMr. Ofosu-Ampofo said obedience to time was very important and expressed worry that many Ghanaians take time for granted thus undermined national development.
\nHe advised the youth to exercise self-control in everything that they do adding that self-control is a \u201cfruit of discipline\u201d.
\nThe regional minister then outlined the government\u2019s vision which he said included investing in people, building a strong economy and providing an accountable and honest government.
\nHe challenged church leaders to encourage their youth to go into agriculture since agriculture is the future of the country.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
