The Upper East Regional branch of the People\u2019s National Convention (PNC), on Tuesday commemorated 29 years of the overthrow of Dr Hilla Limann, President of the Third Republic of Ghana in Bolgatanga.
\nThe PNC called on members to eschew sycophancy and unite for the total development of the party.
\nThe National Youth Organiser of the party, Mr Emmanuel Wilson expressed regret that one of the major problems affecting the party was the flattery behaviour exhibited by some members.
\nHe said the party could bounce back to power if members remain united and forge ahead to campaign to win more people to its fold.
\nMr Wilson condemned the celebration of the 31st December Revolution by the ruling National Democratic Congress, describing it as \u201cunconstitutional\u201d.
\nHe said Dr Limann\u2019s Administration was constitutionally elected into power, hence his overthrown by the Military tantamount to \u201chigh treason\u201d.
\nMr Wilson said instead of celebrating the coup, the perpetuators of the event should have been brought to book.
\nThe Regional Secretary of the PNC, Mr Henry Fatchu who delivered a topic on: \u201cExpectation or Realities of Limann\u2019s Administration,\u201d said it was very regrettable that Dr Limann was overthrown for being in power for 27 months.
\nHe said the ex-president was imbued with vision and could have brought about the positive development of Ghana.
\nMr Fatchu commended the media for expanding the frontiers of democracy in the country leading to freedom and Justice.
\nThe Regional Chairman of the Party, Mr Baba Mohammed said the PNC would institutionalise the commemoration of the overthrow of Dr Limann.
