{"id":272445,"date":"2011-01-07T01:42:07","date_gmt":"2011-01-07T01:42:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/?p=45171"},"modified":"2011-01-07T01:42:07","modified_gmt":"2011-01-07T01:42:07","slug":"kufuors-taxi-driver-ministers-far-better-than-mills-appointees","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/01\/07\/kufuors-taxi-driver-ministers-far-better-than-mills-appointees\/","title":{"rendered":"Kufuor\u2019s Taxi Driver Ministers Far Better Than Mills\u2019 Appointees"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><figure id=\"attachment_45172\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-45172\" style=\"width: 230px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-45172\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/2011\/01\/07\/kufuor%e2%80%99s-taxi-driver-ministers-far-better-than-mills%e2%80%99-appointees\/ebo-quansah\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-45172\" title=\"Ebo Quansah\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/Ebo-Quansah.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"230\" height=\"191\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-45172\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ebo Quansah, Editor of the Chronicle Newspaper<\/figcaption><\/figure><br \/>\nEditor of the <strong>Chronicle<\/strong> Newspaper, Ebo Quansah has taken a swipe at Deputy Minister of  Information, James Agyenim-Boateng for remarks he claims sought to  denigrate the taxi driving profession whiles on a radio programme  discussing the cabinet reshuffle.<br \/>\nMr. Agyenim-Boateng in an interview with <strong>Joy FM<\/strong> concerning the criticism from the main opposition party, the NPP, that  the ministerial reshuffle effected by President John Evans Atta Mills  was a diversionary tactics to douse the flames ignited by the price  hikes in petroleum products, described the erstwhile Kufuor government  as having the reputation of giving ministerial positions to taxi  drivers.<br \/>\nIn comparing appointees under President Mills\u2019  government whom he described as \u201ccompetent people managing the nation\u2019s  affairs\u201d to appointees of the Kufuor administration, he wondered whether  Mr. Obetsebi-Lamptey\u2019s own itinerant stops as Chief of Staff,  Information Minister, and later Minister for Tourism and Modernization  of the Capital city \u2013 where he only managed to modernize a state  bungalow and attempted to buy it, &#8211; was musical chairs.<br \/>\nBut speaking on <strong>e-TV\u2019s Breakfast TV<\/strong> Newspaper Review programme, the veteran journalist and former President  of the Sports Writer\u2019s Association of Ghana (SWAG), who felt the Deputy  Minister was being disrespectful to and contemptible of taxi-drivers,  described his comments as unfortunate.<br \/>\n\u201cAfter misinforming Ghana  on many occasions, he is calling people (ministers) taxi drivers. This  is an insult to the taxi driving profession even though the so called  \u201ctaxi driver\u201d performed better,\u201d he noted<br \/>\nTo him, Mr.  Agyenim-Boateng had no justification to compare Kufuor\u2019s appointees to  taxi drivers, and pointed out that those former ministers being branded  as taxi drivers, even performed better than some of the ministers in the  current Mills\u2019 administration.<br \/>\n\u201cComparing the caliber of  Kufuor\u2019s appointees with some people including himself, we know the  difference\u2026Some of them were taxi drivers\u2026but these ministers are  misinformers, we know the difference,\u201d he added.<br \/>\nHowever, the Editor of the <strong>New Punch<\/strong> newspaper, Ebenezer Ato Sam, popularly known as Baby Ansaba who was  also on the same programme, tried to hold brief for the Deputy Minister  but struggled vainly to justify the comment.<br \/>\nHe dismissed the  assertion that James Agyenim-Boateng\u2019s remark was an insult, and added  that people are only being &#8216;mischievous&#8217; by &#8216;misquoting&#8217; him (Deputy  Minister).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Editor of the Chronicle Newspaper, Ebo Quansah has taken a swipe at Deputy Minister of Information, James Agyenim-Boateng for remarks he claims sought to denigrate the taxi driving profession whiles on a radio programme discussing the cabinet reshuffle.
