Nigeria U23 coach, Austin Eguavoen is still lamenting the absence of his key players at the CAF Olympic qualifiers in Morocco two days into the tournament.<\/p>\n

The team struggled against Morocco in their opening game following the absence players like<\/p>\n

Ahmed Musa, Nnnamdi Oduamadi, Lukman Haruna, Odion Ighalo, and Rabiu Ibrahim. Eguaveon said yesterday that the most painful absence was that of Ahmed Musa whose club VVV Venlo had agreed to release him.<\/p>\n

\u201cI respect the PSV People because they told us from day one that they would not release Rabiu so we rested that case. But for the case of VVV (Venlo), they assured us; told us they would consider the situation and get back to us.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey raised our hopes only to dash it at the last moment and that was not too good,\u201d Eguavoen said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI did my best (to get the players released) and the Federation (NFF) did their best too. I went to Holland; but I couldn\u2019t go to Ukraine (Dynamo Kyiev) because the time really wasn\u2019t there but I spoke to Haruna (Lukman) almost every day and the technical director (of Kyiev) too,\u201d Eguavoen said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
