Receiving her statuette from pal Marc Jacobs, the fashionista teared up while thanking the British Fashion Council.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was really trying to keep it together in the speech without bursting out crying,\u201d she said apologetically, according to the U.K.\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/tvshowbiz\/article-2067299\/Victoria-Beckham-overcome-emotion-honoured-British-Fashion-Awards.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Daily Mail<\/em><\/a>. After acknowledging business partner Simon Fuller and her talented team, she got personal, thanking \u201cmy parents, my kids and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.people.com\/people\/david_beckham\">my husband<\/a>. Without David I wouldn\u2019t have had the courage to do what I am doing,\u201d she shared.<\/p>\n<p>Though her husband wasn\u2019t at the awards \u2014 he\u2019s currently traveling with the L.A. Galaxy soccer team \u2014 he later <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Beckham\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">took to his Facebook page<\/a>, writing, \u201cThe boys and I are incredibly proud of Victoria after winning a prestigious British Fashion Award tonight. She has worked so hard and deserves all the recognition. It\u2019s amazing what she has achieved tonight, very special.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Additional winners included <a href=\"http:\/\/www.people.com\/people\/article\/0,,20343468,00.html\">Alexander McQueen<\/a> creative director Sarah Burton (the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.people.com\/people\/kate_middleton\">Duchess of Cambridge<\/a>\u2018s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.people.com\/people\/package\/article\/0,,20395222_20485848,00.html\">wedding gown designer<\/a>), who nabbed the top award, designer of the year. Stella McCartney, Christopher Kane and Kim Jones also took home various statuettes, and for the second year in a row, Alexa Chung won the British style award, which is voted on by the public.
