Page last updated at Thursday, December 29, 2011 16:16 PM \/\/ <\/span><\/div>\nA 40-year-Toll Collector of Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA); Francis Nii Okai, on Thursday appeared before an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old pupil.<\/p>\n
The victim who is the daughter of Nii Okai\u2019s girlfriend is 24 weeks pregnant.<\/p>\n
Charged with defilement, the court presided over by Mrs Justice Georgina Mensah-Datsa did not take Nii Okai\u2019s plea.<\/p>\n
He was remanded into police custody to reappear on January 11, 2012.<\/p>\n
The prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sarah Acquah said the complainant is the victim\u2019s aunt.<\/p>\n
According to ASP Acquah the victim live at Bukom with her grandmother while the accused lives at Adedemkpo in Accra.<\/p>\n
ASP Acquah said the victim\u2019s mother sends the victim to the accused for money.<\/p>\n
Sometime in October this year, the victim went to Nii Okai\u2019s house to collect money for her mother.<\/p>\n
When she got to the house the accused informed the victim that her mother had told him that she the (victim) had been defiled and he wanted to ascertain whether it is true or not.<\/p>\n
Based on that assertion, ASP Acquah said the accused lured the victim into his room and had sex with her.<\/p>\n
She said the complainant noticed that the victim was pregnant and when she was quizzed she mentioned Nii Okai as the one responsible.<\/p>\n
The prosecutor said the accused was arrested and handed over to the police at James Town and later transferred to the Domestic Violence and Victim\u2019s Support Unit of the Ghana Police Service.<\/p>\n
