Lagos \u2013 (NAN) Business activities are still very low in some parts of Lagos four days after the Christmas festival.<\/p>\n

A visit by a correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) to Marina, Broad Street, Apongbon, CMS and Mushin areas of Lagos, revealed that many shops were yet to open for business.<\/p>\n

NAN reports that most shops in the area were still under lock and key, while traffic was still very light in some of the areas visited.<\/p>\n

A banker, working at one of the banks on the Island who pleaded anonymity, said that customers\u2019 turnout was very low.<\/p>\n

\u201cActually, it is normal for customers to be few because majority of them have travelled out of Lagos\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Mr Busayo Adeola, another businessman on the Marina, said that this was due to the fact that many residents who travelled home for the Christmas celebration had not returned to Lagos.<\/p>\n

\u201cBusiness activities are expected to remain this way until people are back from their respective journeys,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Adeola also said that the turnout of customers had not been encouraging.<\/p>\n

Mr Ayomide Bolarinwa, Branch Manager, Sweet Sensation, Ladipo Street, Mushin, said that sales had been low because many residents travelled to their home towns for the Christmas.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are prepared for a situation like this because the few days after long holiday is always like this,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Bolarinwa said that sales would bounce back to normal by next week when business activities would had picked up fully.<\/p>\n

Mrs Bimbo Adeyemi, a business woman at Mushin, said that business activities had been low.<\/p>\n

\u201cSales are very low now because most of our customers have traveled to their villages to celebrate the Christmas\u2019\u2019 she said.<\/p>\n

Mr Peter Emmanuel, Branch Manager, AP Filling Station, Marina, said that the turnout of customers were still very low, hoping that with time it would improve.<\/p>\n

Emmanuel said that the long Christmas holiday was responsible for the low turnout of customers in the filling stations. (NAN)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
