Jordan Ayew is desperate to play a part in the Black Stars’ quest for a fifth African Nations title when the competition begins next month.<\/p>\n
Ghana are four-time champions and would be hoping to add another title to their collection when they begin the competition from Group D, where they are paired with Botswana, Guinea and Mali.<\/p>\n
The 20 year-old Olympique Marseille attacker was named in Ghana’s 25-man pre-competition squad which will be pruned to 23 by the time the finals kick off in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea on January 21.<\/p>\n
Within the past six months, Jordan has developed sufficiently to gain a place in Goran Stevanovic’s squad. The youngster, who made the squad together with brother, Andre, in an interview with MTNFootball.com insists he so keen to cement his place.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have worked very hard this six months to be part of the squad and I did a very good work for the half of the season,\u201d Jordan said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Ghanaian fans are watching the Ligue 1 and I think it is my hard work which is now paying off so I must continue like this.”<\/p>\n
His form for club, Marseille, makes an interesting reading. He’s scored twice in 13 games so far and played in three Champions League matches for the French side.<\/p>\n
As he prepares for the Nations Cup, he is aware of the level of competition for places but he is eager to make an impact.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s my first Nations Cup so I can\u2019t tell you much but I think if I\u2019m going to a tournament, it is to have playing time and some experience.<\/p>\n
