A Navy Captain (names withheld)\u00a0 has been arrested over the escape of a vessel M.T.Beaver, arrested earlier this month for carrying stolen crude oil.<\/p>\n

The captain, Vanguard gathered,\u00a0 also doubles as\u00a0\u00a0 a maritime guard cammander of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA.<\/p>\n

He has been in detention\u00a0 since December 3.<\/p>\n

It was gathered that\u00a0 the captain was directed to arrest the vessel, a directive he complied with and handed over the crew and vessel to NIMASA officials.\u00a0 NIMASA\u2019s management, however, refuted the claim, saying the maritime agency did not have the power to detain any arrested vessel.<\/p>\n

It was learnt that after the arrest and detention of the vessel, it mysteriously disappeared from where it was berted.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
