The Emir of Suleja, Alhaji Awwal Ibrahim, on Tuesday called for the restoration of cultural values in Nigeria as part of measures to check incessant bomb attacks around the country.

Ibrahim made the statement when he received Archbishop Martin Uzoukwu of Minna Catholic Archdiocese in his palace over the Christmas day bomb attack at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Madalla, Niger State.

Ibrahim said it was important that values be restored and entrenched in the youth to enable them to understand and respect one another.

According to him, non-adherence to values had led to the erosion of community responsibility, which would have assisted security agents in crime detection and prevention.

“We shall try to revive the community policing system but the challenges of population explosion and change in demography may constitute some challenges in that direction,’’ the emir said.

He described the spate of bombings as worrisome and urged every Nigerian to help in detecting those responsible for such acts.

Earlier in his speech, the Catholic Archbishop sued for peaceful co-existence among Nigerians irrespective of faith or tribe.

He called on traditional rulers to ensure that peace prevailed in their domains at all times and assist the security agents in unveiling those behind the evil acts.(NAN)
