Harambee Stars team manager, Edward Oduor has resigned from the Stars technical bench citing difficult working conditions and unpaid dues.

“I have officially tendered my resignation as the team manager of Harambee Stars,” Oduor confirmed. One of the issues that he says forced him to quit are unpaid allowances amounting Sh1 million from the period between October 17 and November 3, when Zedekiah Otieno was the head coach. “The federation did not release this money, and at some point they were trying to make it appear like the money had been given to me,” he added.

Oduor’s resignation comes barely a day after sacked coach Zedekiah “Zico” Otieno also complained that the federation owed him unpaid salaries. Oduor said his next assignment will be to help club side Bandari FC. Oduor who is an employee of Kenya Ports Authority said he will channel his energies on ensuring Bandari get promoted back to the Kenyan Premier League after the seasiders were relegated. “This will be my goal to ensure we get back to the top flight next year,” Oduor added.

Oduor says he intends to lay solid structures for the team to ensure the club can be a force to reckon with and not just make up the numbers in the league. He says his intention is to ensure Bandari challeng for the title Contacted for comment, Football Kenya Federation chairman Sam Nyamweya said they were not in a position to settle the payments because the previous office headed by Mohammed Hatimy was in charge during that period. “We inherited an office with debts and are not in a position to clear the same for now. It is very unfortunate what is happening but we can’t help in anyway,” Nyamweya said. The resignation comes in the wake of FKF first vice chairman Sammy Sholei revealing all is not well in the federation and he quit as one of the signatories of the federations’ bank account.

Meanwhile Thika United have dropped two players from their squad. Geoffrey Simiyu and Joseph Ngure have been axed and the Brookeside boys could lose defender Yusuf Juma who is reported to be heading to Gor Mahia as well as striker Kenneth Wendo who is set to join Tusker. Head coach John Kamau said the team are not going to block players who want to move. “As long as proper channels are followed, we are ready to release players.

Already we have lost our top custodian David Okello to Sofapaka. We have no problem with Okello since all the procedures were duly followed.” he added “The arrival of Moses Arita,” added Kamau, “has given us a major boost ahead of the coming season. We managed to convince him by increasing his salary and now that he has accepted our offer, we anticipate a tough season next year.”

The team resumes training on January 5.
