{"id":20928,"date":"2011-12-24T16:12:38","date_gmt":"2011-12-24T16:12:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/2011\/12\/thief-cuts-off-babys-hand\/"},"modified":"2011-12-24T16:12:38","modified_gmt":"2011-12-24T16:12:38","slug":"thief-cuts-off-babys-hand","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/12\/24\/thief-cuts-off-babys-hand\/","title":{"rendered":"Thief Cuts Off Baby\u2019s Hand"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/fcbb364074143_981648.jpg\" border=\"1\" class=\"c13\" \/><span>The shrill cry of a baby saved its mother from being robbed, but the baby ended with its hand badly cut by the pick-pocket.<\/p>\n<p>The two-year-old baby strapped on its mother\u2019s back, cried out in pain when the thief slashed its hand while attempting to cut open the mother\u2019s hand bag at the busy Kaneshie market in Accra yesterday.<br \/>The child\u2019s mother, Margaret Afriyie, a businesswoman, had gone to the market to buy for her store.<\/p>\n<p>Eye witnesses said the baby\u2019s left hand was in the hand bag, and as the thief struck a knife to the side of the bag in an attempt to cut it open, the bay\u2019s loud cry alerted the mother who was initially confused because she did not realize what was happening to her baby. When she stopped and checked on the baby, she detected that her bag, which contained an amount of GH\u00a25,000, had been cut open together with the baby\u2019s hand.<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately for her, the sharp cry of the baby alerted the pick pocket who abandoned his \u201coperation\u201d and bolted with the speed of lighting.
