Enyimba Football Club of Aba is considering former Under-23 coach, Austin Eguavoen to step into the position of former Enyimba handler, Okey Emordi as head coach after he resigned his position as Chief coach of the national U-23 team.

Team manager of the club Deboy Ekweronu disclosed that at the moment, the team only two persons are being considered for the job but said the former Super Eagles captain has a better chance of securing the job.

According Ekweronu, “So far, we have been able to interview a few people who are interested in the job. Only two coaches are being considered for the job but our target is on the former Under- 23 coach, Austin Eguavoen.

""

Eguavoen

“Although he has not given us his word but we are just waiting for his return from Belgium. As we all know, he has just got out from a competition and also went to Belgium to attend to some family needs. The management has not finalised yet but most likely he will be the coach of Enyimba.”

On the target set for the coach, Ekweronu said, “I believe any person that will coach Enyimba should bear in mind that the club needs to be at its best in all the competitions next year.

It is glaring that last season, we were unable to win any trophy. This time, we hope to do better by winning all the competitions. So, we should be expecting the best from any person who wants to coach the team,” he said.
