Tottenham<\/a> duo Ledley King<\/a> and Emmanuel Adebayor<\/a> have come out in defence of John Terry<\/a> and said they believe the England<\/a> and Chelsea<\/a> captain will not be affected by the furore surrounding him over allegations of racism.<\/span><\/p>\n

On Wednesday it was revealed the 31-year-old had been charged with a racially aggravated public order offence for comments allegedly made towards Anton Ferdinand in the Blues\u2019 1-0 defeat away to QPR.<\/span><\/p>\n

Adebayor and King, who both played in Spurs 1-1 draw with Andre Villas-Boas’ side at White Hart Lane on Thursday, have since suggested that despite the off-the-field controversy surrounding the player, they do not expect a change in his form on it.<\/span><\/p>\n

Adebayor told reporters: \u00a0\u201cIt’s not his first problem in his life. He had a couple of problems already, so I think now he knows how to deal with them.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe are all human beings. We all have problems in our families, problems at home, but when you put the shirt on you just have to manage it.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt’s always difficult in the head, but you have to try to put the problem behind you and work for the team because you have another 10 players who are there so you have to show them respect by working hard and doing whatever it takes.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI think John Terry showed good personality and great character.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHe played very well so it shows you can deal with these things through experience.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Tottenham captain Ledley King \u2013 who has played alongside Terry for England in the past \u2013 also showed support for the Blues defender in the face of immense scrutiny.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHe’s a strong character,\u201d King revealed. \u201cHe lets his football do the talking out there and it doesn’t surprise me that he was able to put in a performance like that despite what’s going on off the pitch.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Adebayor opened the scoring in Thursday’s clash, and believes that it would be foolish to rule Chelsea out of the title race this season.<\/span><\/p>\n

The 27-year-old added: \u201cChelsea are capable of everything.<\/span><\/p>\n
