The embattled General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu-Nketiah, has broken his silence since news about his party\u2019s $20m headquarters edifice compelled him to take cover.<\/p>\n

Asiedu-Nketiah, popularly called General Mosquito, has parried questions regarding the structure, saying that they are not reasonable enough to merit his response.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the NDC Youth Forum in Accra on Tuesday, General Mosquito asked the crowd, \u201cCan you all see me; is that the physical Asiedu-Nketia? Go and inform those who claim they cannot see me that they don\u2019t go to places where I exist.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Asiedu-Nketia, he declined to answer questions on the alleged $20million mansion located in Adabraka in the interest of the critics probing the issue.<\/p>\n

\u201c I have refused to answer questions in the past two weeks because I have a difficulty\u2026I don\u2019t know how to answer unintelligent questions without making the questioners feel insulted and we have all agreed that this campaign is going to be very clean devoid of insults. That is why I have decided in their own interest not to answer those questions,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u00a0General Mosquito said he was more concerned with addressing the youth on the process of winning elections but not about the noise of whether there is a building or not.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe can do all the campaigning, we can do all the protest, we can get the support across the length and breadth of the country, but if we don\u2019t know how to harvest the votes, then we cannot win the elections.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor the past two weeks, when people were on radio stations making noise about whether there is a building or no building; some making noise about whether somebody has urinated somewhere or not, I felt that the most important thing for me to devote my time to, was to go to the length and breadth of the country to educate our people about how we can harvest our vote to keep us in power in 2012.<\/p>\n

\u201cThose who were looking for me, advise them, when I move let them follow me and they will know where I am.\u201d<\/p>\n

A pressure group, Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG), generated dust on the political terrain when it demanded answers to questions regarding the party\u2019s $20m headquarters building at Adabraka in Accra.<\/p>\n

Various party executives intervened in the ensuing brouhaha with an assortment of denials and admissions, compelling doubts to be raised about the integrity of the project.<\/p>\n

The General Secretary, who could clear the air about the project, virtually took cover, avoiding addressing the issue even as the media demanded answers to it.<\/p>\n

The largest opposition party, the NPP, jumped into the fray with various questions regarding the sources of the funding.<\/p>\n

His reference to the construction of the edifice and another one at Oyarifa when he addressed party faithful in Sunyani, when the NDC converged on the Brong Ahafo Regional capital for its congress, was lavishly played on a host of radio stations tauntingly.<\/p>\n
