Nigerian Premier League board member and Head of Media, Akin Akinbobola has been suspended indefinitely by the NPL Congress.<\/p>\n

This is also as the congress ratified the N550m per year title sponsorship deal signed by the board last month with Total Promotions on behalf of MTN Nigeria.<\/p>\n

The sixth congress which was held in Yenagoa the Bayelsa state capital, saw a N500, 000 prize money for the league top scorer approved while the January 7 commencement date of the league also upheld.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Akinbobola\u2019s suspension was said to have followed his alleged provocative statements against the league body.<\/p>\n

Reacting to his suspension, Akin Akinbobola said that, \u201cthey are only trying to distract me from pursuing my mandate in line with due process. I am calm waiting for my appeal to be heard as I don\u2019t want to believe that I have been suspended because the NPL status states the appropriate way and persons to suspend a board member.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am happy that a good percentage of the congress refutes the move to dissolve the appeals committee. I really thank them for their stands,\u201d Akinbobola said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
