Al Wasl’s Argentine coach Diego Maradona has been fined and suspended for the next three matches following an altercation after Friday’s 2-0 loss to Al Ain in the UAE Pro-League.

Along with his suspension, the UAE Football Association (UAEFA) fined Maradona €2,070 (US$2,700) after a heated argument with Al Ain boss Cosmin Olaroiu, who has had a running feud with the Argentine legend. Olaroiu was also fined for the incident.

The pair’s tense relationship has been brewing since November’s Emirates Cup clash between the two sides, where Maradona claimed Olaroiu aggravated him with his unacceptable goal celebrations.

The Argentine has also bemoaned the standard of officiating in UAE’s Pro-League throughout the 2011-12 season, claiming last week there was an “agenda” against his side.
