Daniele De Rossi has announced his intention to remain at Roma, but confessed the Premier League presents an attractive option.
In an interview which will feature in the January 2012 edition of FourFourTwo, the 28-year-old reacted to reported interest from English heavyweights Manchester United and Manchester City, insisting his first port of call would be to stay put in the Italian capital.
“The English Premier League would be a great experience, and it’s nice to hear that [Manchester United coach] Alex Ferguson and [Manchester City coach] Roberto Mancini would be interested and take me to Manchester,” De Rossi revealed.
“However, I do not intend to leave Rome, and I want to stay here.”
De Rossi’s current deal at Roma will run its course at the end of next season, and despite negotiations over renewed terms, talks between both parties have so far proved futile.
Unsurprisingly, his situation has alerted other clubs to his potential signature, including Premier League giants Chelsea, who were claimed to have had a mammoth €70 million bid rejected.
Roma are in need of points to keep up with their Serie A rivals near the top of the table, and prepare to host unbeaten league-leaders Juventus on Monday.
