Asamoah Gyan
Trouble-hit English Premiership side Sunderland will make a swift move to recall star striker Asamoah Gyan from his lucrative loan in the United Arab Emirates.
According to media reports in the UK, Coach Martin O’Neil who took over recently from sacked Steve Bruce is expected to put in a request to management of the North East club to buy out Gyan’s loan contract from Al Ain.
Gyan, who scored 12 goals for the Black Cats, is expected to turn around the dwindling fortunes of Sunderland who are languishing at the 17th position on the league table.
Sunderland are receiving a 6 million-pound ($9.4 million) loan fee for the Ghana player, who is earning almost 5 million pounds a year during his loan spell.
But O’Neil, a former Aston Villa boss, thinks bringing back Gyan by breaking the loan mid-season is cheaper than finding a new striker.
In the absence of Gyan, Sunderland have struggled in the league as its strikers Nikolas Bendtner and Larsson have not found the back of the net easily.
Gyan moved to Al Ain in September in a record world loan transfer deal.
Meanwhile, the Mail newspaper reports that Black Stars winger, 23-year-old Albert Adomah is being hotly chased by six Premier League clubs.
They include Aston Villa, Everton, Bolton, Sunderland and Stoke. The clubs, reports say, need the winger badly to bolster their attacking machinery.
